Dr Rachael Yost

Dr Rachael Yost BVM&S MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon and Practice Owner.

Rachael graduated from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies at the University of Edinburgh in 2007. She began her career in mixed practice, gaining a broad range of experience over the following couple of years before choosing to specialise in companion animal care.

After settling in Newcastle, Rachael spent 10 years working as a locum veterinary surgeon across the North East. During this time, she regularly worked at Metrovets, developing a close relationship with the practice before acquiring it in January 2026.

Rachael is committed to delivering high-quality care for both clients and patients, with a strong emphasis on honesty, approachability and clear communication. As a general practitioner, she enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, but is especially at home in the operating theatre.

Helen joined Metrovets as a Senior Registered Veterinary Nurse in May 2026. She brings a wealth of experience, having spent 10 years working in Emergency and Critical Care out-of-hours services. She also lectures at Askham Bryan, teaching the next generation of veterinary nurses and animal care assistants.

Dedicated, knowledgeable, and calm under pressure, Helen is a fantastic addition to our nursing team.

Affectionately known as the practice's "crazy dog lady", she has a real soft spot for big dogs and is happiest when surrounded by her three German Shepherds.

DipCABT CCAB, MSc Applied Animal Welfare and Behaviour, PGCE, provisional member of APBC.

Jo has been a familiar face at Metrovets for several years but officially joined us full-time as a Senior Registered Veterinary Nurse in July 2026. Prior to this, she supported the team as a regular locum while lecturing at East Durham College.

Jo is a Clinical Coach with a special interest in nutrition and behaviour. She offers behaviour clinics at Metrovets alongside running her own behaviour business. She is passionate about helping pets lead happy, healthy lives and enjoys supporting owners with advice on behavioural and nutritional wellbeing.

Her friendly approach, wealth of knowledge, and commitment to patient care make her a highly valued member of the Metrovets team.

Jadine Daniels RVN

Jadine Daniels RVN

PGCE

Jadine joined Metrovets as a locum in February 2026 and quickly became a valued permanent member of our team. She has over 13 years of experience as a veterinary nurse and is dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care.

Jadine has worked in both the UK and the Caribbean and held the role of Head Nurse for many years. Alongside her clinical work, she is a lecturer on the Advanced Postgraduate Veterinary Nurse Programmes.

Her key interests include pain management, critical care, nutrition, and anything hands-on.

When not working, she loves hiking in the mountains, camping, goats, and Highland cows.

Trish joined Metrovets when the practice first opened in 2008 and has been a valued member of the team ever since. She divides her time between reception duties and supporting the nursing team with procedures, laboratory work and inpatient care.

Known for her warm welcome, Trish is always ready with treats for arriving and departing patients, helping to keep both pets and their owners happy and at ease.

Her French Bulldog, Crash, is a much-loved regular at reception and never fails to entertain staff, clients, and visitors alike.

Head Receptionist

Leigh joined Metrovets at its inception in 2008 and is a well-recognised member of the team. As Reception Team Leader, she has a strong passion for client care and wellbeing, ensuring that every client receives the best possible experience.

Behind the scenes, Leigh helps oversee the administrative side of the practice. She is responsible for managing the practice's involvement in the Cats Protection neutering scheme and oversees the Metrovets Health Plan, helping to ensure both programmes run smoothly and effectively.

Receptionist

Sarah rejoined Metrovets in September 2025 and is a valued member of our reception team. In addition to her reception duties, Sarah is responsible for processing insurance claims on behalf of clients, helping to ensure a smooth and efficient experience during what can often be a stressful time.

She is also happy to support the nursing team when required, assisting with patient handling and running laboratory samples. Her flexibility and willingness to help across different areas of the practice make her an important part of the Metrovets team.

Fiona joined the reception team in January 2026. Her warm and personable nature helps clients and their pets feel welcome and at ease from the moment they arrive.

Always happy to help, Fiona enjoys getting to know our clients while providing excellent customer care. Her friendly approach and positive attitude make her a valued member of the Metrovets team.
